Dirty and greasy gas burners and pots and pans not only make your stove dirty, they can also affect the taste of your food. Of course, you want to avoid this at all costs!

Nevertheless, we often clean our gas burners only superficially. It’s certainly quick and easy, but you’ll soon regret it when you see that the dirt is not quite there.

That’s why, on the next page, we will show you how to clean all this quickly and thoroughly, using very simple household products!

Not cleaning your Gas stove can be fatal!

Gas burners are easy to maintain with this simple tip. And you really should do it because it can be quite dangerous to let dirt build up in this area!

Letting dirt (even if it’s just a little bit) can be a matter of life and death. Don’t believe me? Let me explain it to you.

When dust, dirt and other unwanted debris gets stuck in the holes of the gas burner, it can become clogged. The gas cannot escape and collects in the pipes. And the accumulated gas is, as you can guess, extremely fire-sensitive and therefore dangerous.

That’s why you really need this trick to keep them spotless. Do this at least once a month and everything will be fine.

Here’s what you need to Clean up a gas burner:

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Baking soda
  • A non-abrasive scouring sponge
  • Cleaning cloths
  • An old toothbrush
  • A paper clip

Step 1: Clean gas burners and heads

You must first close the gas valve. This is because gas burners have a removable ceramic cap that spreads the flames.

Below these caps is the burner head, above the gas tube. Remove the caps and burner heads by gently lifting them vertically. This prevents damage that you may regret later.

Soak the burner heads and burners for 30 minutes in a bowl of baking soda and warm water. Then scrub the burner heads and burner caps with a non-abrasive scrubbing sponge. For hard-to-reach areas, use an old toothbrush moistened with a mixture of soap and warm water.

If the burner openings are blocked, use a paper clip to release them. Bend the paper clip on a straight rod and push it through narrow passages. Dirt will come out the other side.

Be careful not to damage the metal cover and let it dry upside down. This will prevent foam in the pipes.

Step 2: How to clean electric burners

Here’s what you need to clean your electric stove:

  • Detergent
  • Baking soda
  • A non-abrasive scouring sponge
  • A soft cloth
  • Another cloth to wipe
  • If your electrical coils and burners are full of encrusted dirt, turn on the burners for a few minutes to burn off the residue Once they have cooled down, wash them with hot soapy water and cover them completely with a mixture of 2 parts baking soda and 1 part water. Let stand for 15 minutes.

While the burners are dripping, wipe the electrical coils with a damp cloth to remove stains and residue. Scrub the burners and rinse the baking soda. Use soapy water to wash and rinse, then dry. Now you can simply polish them with a microfibre cloth until they shine again.

How do you clean your cooktop?

You should know this in advance: you must be very careful with the cooking plates and avoid the electric burner getting wet.

Degrease the cooktop by wiping it with a damp cloth to remove the top layer of dirt. Use a sponge and soap to degrease and wipe the cooktop with a damp cloth to rinse off soap residue.

For heavily encrusted dirt, you can make a mixture of homemade baking soda, as explained in the previous pages. Spread the mixture all over your plate and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.

If you’re afraid to clean your gas or electric stove every time, you’re not doing it properly.

There is absolutely no need for expensive cleaners or hours of cleaning. You have everything you need at home and now you know what to do with it!
